I was going to place this one in the surf section but I think with these storms it affects both aspects of fishing. So they are calling for two TS that are making there way north, Leslie is looking like, we might catch her blacklash and really churn up the waters. This weekend while I was out on te beach the water had a very brown, like coffee color look to it. In your opinion how badly do these storms affect your fishing and everyone around you?

I really like fishing right before a storm as the barometer drops. I have had some really successful nights in these situation. I am talking about surfcasting though, not fishing from a boat. I don't think I would ever go out on a boat knowing that a storm, especially a hurricane, is on its way. Just seems too dangerous to me.
Once the storm hits though, the rain messes with the water quality and shuts everything down. Fishing in storms is dangerous if you are not careful. A few years ago I was out by myself at around this time of year fishing before the storm. The surge and kicked up surf had already reached us and the undertow was very strong. Wasn't paying attention and lost my footing and was pulled about 50 feet off the beach. Luckily I wasn't wearing my waders or I may not be typing this now. I don't recommend for anybody to fish before, during, or a few days after a storm unless they are fully aware of the consequences and are fishing with friends.

WHile the fluke shut down after last years hurricane, the bass showed up with a vengeance. All the bars were turned up very well and the clam fishing was insane.

Definately not a time to be out fishing alone. But before a storm and before the water gets too murky it can be some of the best fishing from the surf. Buddy up for safety and always keep an eye on each other whether you know the next guy or not.

Blessed are we to have North & South Shores. To me, tropical ocean swells are the perfect invite to go enjoy some Middle Grounds Madness on the LIS
